WHAT'S COVERED?
Soil is a fascinating substance! Cemetery operators need to be aware of how to manage the soil in their sites, and how to legally dispose of any surplus soil resulting from their operations.
The Environment Agency have published guidelines on the management of groundwater in cemeteries. All cemetery operators must undertake an appropriate risk assessment and manage operations to reduce their risk and impact on the environment.
Any extension to an existing site or new cemetery proposal must comply with the latest requirements.
