If you work in the sector and want to be part of the supportive community that is the ICCM then Individual Membership may be for you. If you represent Burial or Cremation Authorities, then Corporate Membership may be more appropriate.
There are lots of great reasons to join the ICCM – let’s have a closer look at the benefits on offer for Individuals.
Expert support and advice from full time technical officers.
Sounds great but what does it mean? If you find yourself in a situation you have never experienced before then you can reach out to our Technical Officers via email or phone and be sure of getting up to date advice and guidance that is specific to your set of circumstances. As we know in this sector the price of getting it wrong is high and our members often cite the support given as being an extremely valuable resource. This is available only to members and well worth the membership fee on its own.
Online learning hub
Brand new launched at the start of 2026 this member only resource is a central hub of information from the ICCM. This includes regular updates on the latest guidance, best practice, legislative changes, and much more.
Knowledge base with over 900 reference articles
Accessible via the new learning hub our entire library of current and historical information updates is now searchable only by ICCM members.
Best practice guidance
We are constantly looking to improve the experience for bereaved people, so guidance is always evolving towards this aim as well as keeping you up to date on the implications of legal changes.
Regular sector and timely legislative updates by email
As well as updating the Knowledge base we email members with the latest information to ensure they don’t miss it. Got a busy enough inbox? No problem you can always opt out of email categories you don’t want to receive – the information is still there in the learning hub should you need it.
Regional meetings
We recognise the value of human connection and local networks so local meetings are held periodically providing opportunities to learn & network and feedback experiences. What’s more you aren’t confined to a single region. You can attend any of the meetings at any branch – subject to space.
Another way to keep up with what is happening around the UK in our sector
The Award Winning magazine of the ICCM is The Journal.
This high quality 72 page magazine is produced quarterly and can be viewed digitally in the Learning Hub and you can opt to receive a physical printed copy if you prefer.
Reduced price access to the industry’s leading training courses
Our unique training courses are offered at a significant discounted price to members, meaning that joining can pay for itself fairly quickly with this benefit alone.
Monthly Webinars
Regular guest speakers offer insights and learning in live interactive sessions available to all members at no extra cost.
Representation at Government level in England, Wales and Scotland
The ICCM not only listens to its members, we voice your views and concerns to Government, helping to shape thinking, policy and legislation.
There are various classes of Individual Membership, the level you join at depends on your circumstances:
Qualified Member
If you hold the ICCM Diploma, or have five years certification in the ICCM’s Continuing Professional Development Scheme you are eligible to be a Qualified Member.

If you don’t meet the criteria to become a Qualified Member you can still become a member if: a) you are a student registered for the ICCM Diploma, or studying under the Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme or Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme, or b) you are a non-Diploma holder gainfully employed in a burial, cremation or similar undertaking, or a public ancillary service. c) a previous member applying to be re-admitted under article 16 (link to articles)
Associate Individual Membership (non-voting membership)

Please note that classes of membership hold full voting rights except Associate Corporate and Associate Individual Members, but only Life Members, Fellows and Qualified Members are eligible to act as Directors of the Board.
Designations
Once approved, Individual Members of the ICCM may use the following abbreviations after their names:
Qualified Member: QMICCM

Associate Individual Member: AICCM
Qualified Fellow designation is FQICCM
Additionally, Diploma holders may add (Diploma), (Dip) or (DipHons) after the abbreviation. For example, a Qualified Member who holds the ICCM Diploma could use Jo Smith QICCM (Dip). Fellows (FICCM) and Life Members are awarded rather than applied for.
